Overview
Chippenham Model Car club are pleased to be hosting the 2026/27 CWIC. This year the name reverts to the ‘historic’ CWIC, however, generally follows the format of the previous Iconic Winter series and there are various Iconic based classes plus Open Mini, Frontie and 17.5 Blinky touring.
This is the 4th year of running the winter championship with the “Iconic” theme and we appreciate the support to date and look forward to running another fun and competitive series.
This CWIC continues to follow the “Iconic Winter” series, and will be supporting Parkinson’s UK. To date the series has raised over £4,500 for Parkinson’s UK, which is a credit to all those that have participated in the series.
This year there are opportunities to run specific brushless setups in a number of classes – the individual class rules define this in more detail, where viable a ‘technical equivalence’ has been specified.
The CWIC will include the following classes, click on a class to view detailed rules;-
Iconic Stock Touring
Iconic F1
17.5 Blinky Touring
Frontie (BRCA)
Open 2WD M Chassis
A minimum of 8 drivers per class across the series is required to best ensure a class will run and is also subject to the overall number of entries. A maximum of 13 heats can be accommodated, and some classes may run with more than 10 cars in a race and some classes maybe amalgamated but run as separate championships.
Each event will comprise qualifying and a final for all competitors. A practice round will also be held if time permits. The competitors final result will be used to calculate championship points.
The series championship will be decided by the best 3 out of 4 rounds, overall Championship awards will be presented at the last event in February.
The series will be fundraising primarily for Parkinson’s UK.
The series will be held at the Olympiad Sports Centre in Chippenham.
The main sports hall will be the carpet track – approximately 30m by 19m and the side hall ‘River Bank’ will be the main pit area.
There are viewing galleries overlooking the main hall.
A dedicated Facebook page exists for the series – available on this link;-

Championship Tables

The Championship is based on the best 3 rounds from 4, with a tie break using the 4th round.
Venue

The Iconic Winter Series meetings will be held at the Olympiad Sports Centre in Chippenham.
Full address: Olympiad Sports Centre, Sadlers Mead, Chippenham, Wilts, SN15 3PA

Google maps: Olympiad Leisure Centre – Google Maps
The main sports hall will be the location of the track, race control, scrutineering, etc. The adjacent hall “River Bank” will be the main indoor pit area. There are ample chairs and mains sockets, please bring a table and mains extension lead. Mains power should only be used for the principle purpose of charging batteries, no kettles, heaters, etc.
The purple arrow indicates the entrance from the road (Sadlers Mead). The multi-story car park entrance is then on the right. We ask that people park in the main car park and bring their kit down to avoid a traffic jam in the small drop off car park. However, if you do come down to the drop off car park please note that the only area to drop off is marked in yellow. Under no circumstances are we permitted to park in the area mark in red as this is for the staff parking and without them being able to park we simply won’t be able to have the meeting!
Those competitors with Blue badges should contact us before the meeting as there are number of places in the “Yellow” area, however, these need to be ‘reserved’ ahead of the meeting.
The multi-storey is currently a pay and display car park, please ensure you pay, at the time of writing the fee is £1.60 / day, but please check on the day. The adjacent street parking is for local residents only.
Cars MUST NOT be left in the drop off area

Trackside Shop

We are pleased to advise that L&L Models will be supporting the meeting with their trackside shop.
If you have a specific requirement then please contact L&L asap and they will do their best to help and bring it along to the meeting. Also L&L have some special offers only available at this meeting, so well worth a look.
Clicking on the banner above will take you to their website and online shop
